Indian Motocycle
Indian is an American brand of motorcycles manufactured from 1901 to 1953 in Springfield, Mass., by the firm first known under the name of Hendee Manufacturing Company, renamed Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928.
Sad ending
Beginning in 1955, the brand name will be bought by different factories, mostly in the intention of raising production already shaky, giving him a prestigious name.
We will see the name of Indian worn by Royal Enfield, Matchless, Jawa / CZ, or other Horex Velocette. It will even motor scooters stationary Briggs & Stratton.
Glimmer of hope
In July 2004, Stellican Limited, specializes in reviving old brands (it had previously purchased the brand of boat Chris-Craft), bought the old firm in Springfield.
Since July 2006, the new company founded by Stellican, Indian Motorcycle Company is located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, and manufactures luxury motorcycle. Several models, in keeping with the image of Indian, are available for sale.
